Loose Tone Controls

Sign in to disble this ad
On my Lakland two of the tone knobs are a little loose. I can wiggle them a little bit around while the other 3 knobs are fine and snug. I was wondering what I would need to do to tighten them down, do they remove easily? The bass is a 55-02 if that would help with anything?

Thanks much

Well on both my basses my tone knobs don't work haha. Odd that both my used basses have broken tone knobs? I like their sounds thankfully, but wow.

That's too bad Diggs but if you like the sound then its all good lol. Mine still function but the bass and P/U knob just wiggle a little. Being in North Dakota I don't know if we even have a GC around here, mostly this store known as Jacobsen's Music which seems to be statewide. I'm sure I could take it to them but the repair guy there takes a long time to get instruments done.

Id just like to know if there is an easy way to make those controls tight. If not I'll probably just deal with it for awhile

They are push-on (no set screws) plastic knobs, right? If they go onto a split shaft then you can pull the knob, carefully spread the split part of the shaft a bit, and then put the knob back on. Make sure that they are push-ons before trying to yank the knob off. I've seen too many pots that had their innards crushed by someone using a screwdriver to try and pry off a tight set screw knob!
