Low action

Does anybody know where I could find a video or some sort of very good instruction on
How to get a low action on a jazz bass with minimal fret buzz because it has driven me nuts having a high action.

Much appreciated thanks

You dont need no video. Just adjust neck relief for minimal. Then start slowly lowering bridge saddles for lowest action for each string listening to results thru the amp rather then unplugged. If you find your getting fretting out at just specific frets, then a fret job is needed, or at least those particuliar frets causing the fretout. Having a very good liutheir/tech do a fret level benefits most basses. But its not allways needed to get below 2mm for action at 12th fret as most of the basses Ive owned have demonstrated. That just takes picking a brand that besides other things, does better then average fretwork when making the thing. Easiest low action in my experience is with basses & guitars whose neck also slightly tilts rearward (toward you when wearing it) in referance to bodies top. Better manufactures build their instruments this way via how they do the neck pocket. Rather then by useing shim imo. But thats just my opinion, many love those shim needed and installed by mfg, basses and guitars. Lol.

Not every bass will accept very low action with minimal buzz.

Rod, nut and saddles adjustment will surely help, but when it comes to fret leveling you should bring it to a pro...

Nah, I got over it years ago, when I found that I sound better with medium to high action.

Lots of folks don't think about the nut.

If the strings set to high, they are high,,,, right?

Careful what you wish for...
I picked up a Fender aerodyne for a steal and figured I would put money not spent on the bass into having it set up. I told the guy make the action as low as you can... The action was so low I could barely play it. You just had to lightly brush the string to make a sound. I know that would work for some, but did not fit my playing style at all. I wound up raising the saddled 3 1/2 turns on each adjusting screw. Now I plan on having to take it back to adjust pick up height to match the new string height.

+1. It's taken me a long time to get comfortable with this idea and I still struggle mentally with it.
