Maple fingerboard cleaning

Sign in to disble this ad
One of my basses has a maple fingerboard and although i clean my basses regularly there are some stains on the maple fingerboard that just won't go away even though i have tried all kinds of stuff.I'm quite worried about this because i have been taking closer looks on maple fingerboards and all of them seem to have that kind od stains. So what should i use to clean it up?And please don't tell me i'll have to re-finish my fingerboard

I won't tell you you have to refinish your fingerboard. I can't tell if that stain is on top of the finish or is wear from playing and has gone right through the finish. Once oil and dirt gets into the maple it makes a permanent mark. I've had that on many maple fingerboards. If you've tried everything to clean it like naptha, soap and water, and alcohol and it won''t come off, what do you think you'll have to do except live with it?

one of the qualities of maple. While some find this undesirable others like it.....makes your bass unique
