Maple fretboard finish

Hi,

I came across this geddy lee neck for sale. It's obviously seen a bit of action and the finish on the fretboard is worn in some places (mostly E string, 1st and 3rd frets in this photo). Is it worrying? Is there a harder coat under there? If this were yours, would you refinish the fretboard or leave it alone?

I would leave it alone, it is difficult to do an amateur repair on catalyzed finishes, especially between frets. I 'm pretty sure there is some more sealer under the coat that's peeling, and the peeling will not affect playability. I would buy it and maybe touch up with some wipe on poly if the chips are revealing bare wood.
