marcus miller volume issue please help

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey guys I've had a marcus miller 4 string for about 2 years now and I have a volume issue between strings. My e string is was louder and more present then my others. I'm currenly using dr high beams and a babicz bridge with seymour duncan quarter pounders. The nut seems ok and the a string is wound down to the tuner so I'm not getting any buzz between the nut and the tuning machine. I can't figure out what's going on. Please help

Try lowering the bass side of the neck pickup.

I tried that too. I have the neck pickup set really low on the bass side and its didn't really do much for the overpowering e string. It does it in passive and active mode. Could it be the bridge?

IME with those pickups, they are incredibly inconsistent. The minute I changed out the pickups the string volume issues went away.

That's what I was thinking too. I've had similar experiences with these pickups in other basses now that I think about it. Any reccomendations? I have a sadowsky pre in it that I rarely use. I play mainly rock with a pick

I also play mainly rock with a pick hehe. I went with Rio Grande Muy Grande jazz. They sound phenomenal to me.

Sounds like you need to have a setup done. Your string and pickup heights are not set properly.
