Hi guys I have a 6 strings bass custom made by fabregues, great bass. What should i do if i send my bass to a shop for a refret and they broke my double truss rods, they did refret the neck and just charge me $279 for the job saying: sorry for the truss rods, we can try to make you a new neck! The bass still almost unplayable.. I know that things happened, but that sucks! |

They need to apologize for the delay and deliver a fully repaired product. Otherwise, no charge for the fretjob. I know there are two sides to every story, but I think people here would like to know who they are so they can either be avoided or pressured into making it right... |

That's insane I never heard of something like this and well yes they sure CAN build you a new neck. They can remove the fretboard and replace the truss rods they can fix it. I got some friends in Jersey I can call for you if they don't with pipes and chains that can't fix or play a bass but they are still handy in a situation like this.

Took a bass on for a setup and they said the truss rod was already broken .
I highly doubt it was but they wouldn't budge .
. I was a puny 16 yo kid and just took it .....

Chicago Fret Works is a good shop that has a good reputation.
Their refret's start at $285 and go up from there. I would think that a six string bass would be at the high end of their price range, not less then their cheapest.
I would like to know the whole story......

a) Called you as soon as it happened with sincerest apologies, and
b) told you that, with your permission, they will ship it back to the factory to get the truss rods replaced and BACK TO FACTORY SPECS (preferably UPS Second Day Air) and,
c) given you a loaner bass just because it's the right thing to do!
d) called you the day the bass was returned to them and make arrangements to hand deliver the bass to you at whatever location you choose.
That would be the professional thing to do. I sincerely hope you get satisfaction. |

I would in no way accept it and would tell them they owe me $xxxx or returned in factory condition in 2 weeks. If it was a squire, maybe I would take the hit, but that bass is just a tad more then a squire and I would take nothing but the way it was when you handed it to them. Your should have a meeting with the owner. |
