Mighty Mite bodies quality

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm thinking of getting a Mighty Mite body for a P-bass build. Are they any good? I only have experience with bodies made by Hosco Japan and these are veeery good. Anyone knows how they compare? I'm especially wondering about the fit of the pickguard and neck.

How do they compare to Fender MIM or Fender CIJ?

My MIM's body (sunburst) is three piece (versus the more desirable one or two piece) and has what I believe is an incorrect radius (too small) along the body edges. It still looks great though. Point being that the Mighty Mite can have some pretty significant imperfections and still be on par with an MIM. Not sure about MIJ though.

I have a Mighty Mite P bass body - it's my P that I use. Good body, two piece in 2TS. One little thing, you have to use their pickguard, at least with this one I did. The rout was a little big, but I did buy it used off of TB so it may have been done by the previous owner. I notice MF has their finished bodies for $149, a heck of a lot cheaper than Warmoth for a finished body. I'm already planning my next build, a P body in either cherry sunburst or see-through blue, with a maple J neck.

Both Allparts and Warmoth cost more than I'm willing to spend. Either of them being awesome is going to change that

Oops - my bad. What I meant to say is, yes I have a MM body, even though I have purchased from Warmoth before, I more than likely would go for the MM body vs. Warmoth. If I was doing a non P or J build, I would go with Warmoth, but after comparing the two, I know I like them both equally well, and the fact that I can get the MM finished for less than I could get the Warmoth from...well, as I said before, I'll be getting the MM soon.

I don't know if anybody is still tuning in to this thread, but I've had a terrible experience (my bad) of matching a Mighty Mite Jazz Body with a WD Jazz Neck ---never,never,never again. The MM body has a 2 1/2" heel width, while the WD neck heel is 2 5/16"!!! As one guy said, 'that's not just a space; that's a plank!' He's right --- a huge gap around the neck in the pocket. Terrible. Anybody want a WD neck??

My experience with Might Mite was not soooo bad. The only real problem was the bridge pickup is not of standard size. A quick router action and it was fixed. I bolted on a cheap $80 Eden, blocked/bound vintage tinted neck, some hardware and electonics and it was ready to go. This neck fit perfectly...lucky me?

Mighty mite bodies are great. Thick finish and undercoat, fine quality. Great for the price.

Oh, the neck twisted soon after arriving to me. But it's still useable. If it gets too bad, I'll replace it with a quality neck from all parts.
