mighty mite jazz bass neck

Sign in to disble this ad
im thinkin about tryin to put together a bass and basically all i need is a neck. i was thinkin about goin with mighty mite since its the cheapest and this is my first project.

the only concern i have is that on musicians friend the specs say it is 11/16' at the nut. that is a p bass not a jazz bass neck correct? jsut wanted to know if that is a typo, or if there is something there im not getting.

if so does it feel like a jazz neck should? ive played p basses before but i much prefer jazz necks now especially with my smaller hands

i've never played these myself but i've read that these necks are going to be thicker than standard fender jazz bassses

re: Mighty Mite necks

I can't speak for their jazz necks but a few years ago I did my first build with a P Bass body and electronics off of ebay that looked beat to hell and added a MM P neck to it. Well, whatever that body was it sounds great and the neck is arguably my favorite over a couple of other traditional Ps, a J MusicMan and a Sadowsky. One thing to watch out for, the wood shrinks a lot in the first year leaving some sharp edges on the outside of the frets. I've had to have them files twice but it was worth it. Some thing about the nut width and radius of this neck that feels awesome.

I have a maple/maple j neck...gotta admit it's not my favorite. That being said, I put one of their necks on a friends bass, and it rocks pretty hard, so right now for me they are batting .500...

I have a maple/maple jazz on a MIM P bass. It is a solid neck and feels good, but like above, not the best I've played. For the money though, it's the best economical option.

Yeha, I picked it up off of TB, for like 40 bucks. I mean, I can't complain - it was just 40 BUCKS. My friend's bass neck was like 50 bucks SHIPPED, again off of TB, so I can't complain really. For the money I've spent, I don't think I could buy the parts to make the neck, let alone a pre made neck!!!!
