Mildew-stained tweed case

Sign in to disble this ad
Bought a bass on eBay that came with a tweed hardshell case.

Looks like the case has been in the shed or something - there's grey mildew on the outside. The inside is fine.

I have no use for hardshell cases, so I thought I'd sell it - but I'd like to clean it up first.

But I have no idea where to start, and I don't want to ruin it. A search came up with nothing I could do much with.

Your help is appreciated. :-)

I think you can kill the mildew spores, but I'd be surprised if you can remove any stains. The reference cited above mentions bleach - you might be able to spot-treat, but I'd do it with a diluted solution and start with an inconspicuous test patch. Tweed fabric should be as easy to damage with straight bleach as any other fabric is.

More internet research is indicated.
