MIM Precision Bridge replacements?

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey TB'ers,

I have a 2003 MiM Precision, and the bridge seems to be a little 'weak'. I have also noticed that the saddles seem to move. When i play the A string, there always seems to be a buzz comming from somewhere.

Im looking for a replacement, some people have said BA2, but theyre expensive and appear to be out of stock everywhere. I also was recommended the Gotoh 201.

Is there a bridge that i can drop straight in without having to make any new screw holes?

Any help will be much appreciated, im not very knowledgable when it comes to hardware!

-Lorry

i just removed a ba11 on my mia deluxe p and replaced it with the gotoh 201. perfect fit,and i think even sounds a little better than the ba. don't have to worry bout grooving the saddles like on the ba also.

Does the A-string vibrate/buzz only on the open string or does it happen when you fret the string also?

...the buzz could be coming from anywhere - I'm not going to touch that - but for bridge-ness, I suggest a Hipshot Vintage style.

They come in Fender mounting styles, and are made of good solid brass. They also have a neat little ledge that looks really nifty and hides the ball-ends of your strings - and they're top load, so you don't have to pull the strings through when you restring.

Only drawback I found is that their saddle height adjustment setscrews are tiny, and that the saddles themselves tend to not settle perpendicular to the strings - but these are minor issues, and if they bother you, you can always slap the Fender saddles/screws on the Hipshot base.

Good price, too - under a hundred IIRC.
