MIM Standard Truss Rod Fix ??

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a 96' MIM Standard Jazz neck with too much relief and a truss rod that appears to be bottomed out ... it does turn to loosen, and is free, without feeling like it is 'free spinning' .. has anybody used spacers, etc on the rod to allow more adjustment with success ?? thank you

Sounds like a new neck or new bass is in your future...

Maybe ... I actually picked this up priced right, it was supposed to have electronic issues, but they were an easy fix ... the real issue may be with the neck which was supposed to be fine ... anyhow, it is an inexpensive deal that I was just going to leave at church in case I didn't show up with a bass, or anyone else needed to use it ... I have a feeler out for a replacement neck, but I am going to use this one to experiment with to try and fix ... I have heard of guys using spacers to allow a few extra turns on the rod, but if the neck has been sitting in this position for a while it may have a bit too much of an upbow memory in the wood ... life goes on .. I have others

Do a search, this topic has been covered in depth. Warmoth has 20 fret necks now for these basses.
