MIM vs. MIA Truss Rods

Sign in to disble this ad
A tech/luthier/builder I know told me that the Mexican-made Fenders have bigger truss rods and more stable necks than the American-made ones and he therefore prefers the former.

Is that an accurate belief?

Not true at all.

Same truss rods, but the American has added graphite bars to add more stability. The MIM lacks the graphite bars.

I think they adjust from opposite ends of the neck, as well. The MIMs adjust with a hex key from the headstock end, while the MIAs adjust from the body end. The older MIAs/MIJs are screwdriver adjust for the truss rod.
