missing piece

Sign in to disble this ad
my friend barrowed my bass for a band tour and he came back with a broken E string and a missing bridge stand(?) if that is what it is called, the piece where you lay the string on at the beggining of the cable. The question is do i need to get the same piece or can i get a different kind and still work the same?
I have a epiphone thunderbird IV.
I can provide pictures if needed.

thanks

If I understand correctly, the piece you need is the saddle. I think t-birds have a pretty unique bridge so you might have some trouble finding a replacement, but some of the Tbird xperts here will know.

p.s. All you "that's why you should never lone out gear" types should just sit on it. It isn't helpful now.

This is a good opportunity to learn what parts make up a bass. If you are calling strings "cables" and saddles "stands", it's apparent that you're pretty new to this. That's OK, we've all been there, but in your own defense, keep learning about the instrument - it will help you in the long run.

There's plenty of info online, and a gent named Dan Erlewine is one of the nation's authorities on instrument repair. Buy one of his books on guitar repair - it will be the best $20 you ever spent.

I'd say your buddy owes you a repair. I would imagine, you'll need to order the part.
