MM pickup install.

Sign in to disble this ad
So I just purchased a new seymour duncan smb-5a Musicman style pickup that I'm gonna install in my passive 5 string jazz bass. The guy I'm gonna have help me do all the body work is an excellent wood worker but is there anything specific that I should caution him of or any tool recommendations or tips?

Proper routing template and a 3/8" top-bearing pattern following router bit are indispensable.

Also, if you're replacing the J bridge pup, be sure that your MM pup route will completely cover the old route. I know that on the 4 stringers, it won't.
