MM5 style pickguard for an MM4?

Sign in to disble this ad
So I have a bunch of parts for a project I want to do, just missing body and pickguard, and was wondering if my newest idea would be possible.

Ideally I would get a Musicman Stingray (or a copy) 4-string body, and have a pickguard like the one for the stingray 5-strings where the pickguard covers the controls layout, because I want to install a circuit board mounted preamp (an old haz-labs Spector 9V tone control I love dearly) in the bass. I would route out under the pickguard and install the preamp there, instead of the metal boomerang-looking control plate MM4's have.

The only question is where to get such a thing that would fit? I know I have seen some MM5 copies that had MM4-style pickguards, does anyone know if there a stingray 5 style guard that would fit a 4-string body and pickup? I would also be adding a pickguard-mounted neck pickup so having the pickguard serves multiple purposes in this design.

Perhaps even an affordable custom pickguard maker?
