First off, here's a post I made in Reddit regarding this where I already got some suggestions and very helpful info. http://www.reddit.com/r/BassVI/comme..._vi_mod_ideas/
Anyways, I'm looking to mod my PS Bass VI and make it "mine". My initial goal is to make it fretless (I use it as my main bass, hardly ever as a guitar), change out the 5 way switch to a 3 switch plate, install a foam mute bridge, and give it a custom psychedelic paint job (like Jack Bruce's).
But I'm curious now about what else I can do mod wise. Any bass VI owners recommend switching out the bridge humbucker with a regular jag single coil? I was also suggested to having it wired so when all 3 switches are off, it'll put the of the pickups in series giving it a boost. I just want to have my bass vi able to achieve many different tones, especially a 70's phil lesh tone if at all possible.
While looking for a new pickguard from Warmoth (though it'll have to be trimmed to fit the PS model) I noticed I have the option to add a 5 way switch/toggle switch on the upper horn, what can I do with that? http://www.warmoth.com/Pickguard/Bass6Pickguard.aspx
By the way I have little to no knowledge in regards to modding and electronics. In the end I'll just need to get the parts and schematics and have a guitar shop do it for me. Thanks guys!
