Ok, I want to try something different with my main Bass

I have 2 volumes and 1 tone (2 J-style pups)

99.9% of the time, I run the volumes full out.

Are there any advantages if I:

1) bypass my tone knob?

2) wire both pups into 1 volume?

3) 1 + 2

Is it pointless to do it? or will I increase any gain?

Sounds like an interesting idea. If you normally run the volumes
all the way up, you might as well go with a tone control and run
the volume straight thru.

I did something similar on a Dan Electro that had stack volume and tone pots for each pickup. Pulled it all out and wired both pickups to a volume pot then straight to the jack.

It is strung with flat wounds and once the tone is dialed in on the amp, that's it. I am alway surprised at how good this cheap thing sounds. I don't get it but sounds great.

if you bypass the controlls totally, you can get a bassier sound
