Modulus flea bass fretboard maintenance

Sign in to disble this ad
Hi,
I am wondering if there is anything that needs to be done to maintain the finger board of a modulus flea bass. The modulus site only talks about the back of the neck but not the actual fret board. Is that material porous in any way? I heard that wd30 is supposed to be good, but before I do something wrong I'd like to find out if anybody here knows how to keep it nice in the long run.

From a friend who works at Modulus: wipe in off with a dry rag...thats it. Its phenolic, so its pretty much the opposite of porous.

If had mine for about 10 years now and it still looks as new as the day I bought it.

That's so simple, it's great. But if there is any grime sticking to it, could I just use a rag dampened with a bit of soapy water without hurting anything?

naptha if necessary, i avoid water around instruments generally. but pheneloc is tough stuff, so it should be impervious to pretty much anything except fire

I don't know what naphta is, I've never used it. Is it a solvent of some type?

it's used as zippo lighter fluid. dissolves finger gunk, grease, sticker gum, etc. without hurting finish. (oh, and it's spelled "naphtha" for some reason.)

shine the frets themselves with 4x0 steel wool (taping or covering the board itself in between to prevent scuffing it), and use plain ol' guitar polish to clean the whole thing, board included.
