The more "specific" which bridge thread:

After searching through the forums for badass bridge I noticed there were other options as well. I'm trying to determine what the specs on each of the replacement bridges are such as pros and cons. I am looking for a replacement bridge for a Fender Standard Jazz Bass (4 string) MIM.

Here's what I gathered, I am looking for more information on these bridges and which is the best choice:

Badass Bass II:
Cons:
-requires filing of the string slots
Pros:
-expense rating: Medium ($50.00 eBay)
-Direct drop-in for Fender

Schaller 2000:
-not much info

Gotoh:
Pros:
- direct drop in replacement
- no slotting needed
- slots to prevent sideways movement of saddles
- cheap ($40.00)

cons- lowest action higher than stock bridge

Vintage Fender Bass Bridge:
-not much info
pros: cheapest ($24.00)

Any info you could provide on which would be the best replacement and why would be appreciated. Also I am looking for information in how much the tone would be affected (good or bad). Thanks!

I wouldn't worry about the lowest action on the Gotoh bridge. If you find the action too high with the bridge in its lowest position, a small shim in the neck pocket will compensate.

Now if you have a neck-through, you're going to have a devil of a time finding the neck pocket.

It's a standard jazz. Shouldn't be a problem

I just ordered a bridge from Stewart MacDonald for my SX bass. Just some cheap $20 bridge made by Gotoh. The bridge on my SX has been giving me some trouble and I'm ready to just get rid of it and replace it with a different one. Not really an upgrade or anything, but hopefully this one won't buzz and wiggle as much.

Schaller 2000 -
Pros - No filing, solid as a rock, very adjustable, no lateral motion whatsoever - set it and the string placement STAYS, drops right onto a fender.

Cons - kinda spendy, $110 or so . . .

These may not be the cheapest thing out there, but I have not found much of anything I liked more that was a drop-on for a Fender 5 hole mounting pattern.
