More Trussrod Problems

I just saw that thread about trussrods and I have a question of my own. I just got my fender jazz bass and the action was way too high. I took out my allen wrench and turned it (uhh, lefty loosey?) to try to get it to lower. No dice. It's exactly the same and there's not too much resistance in each turn. Any advice? I'm at a loss for what to do.
