I want to replace the nobs on my Squier Bronco, but I can't figure out how to get the stock knobs off.

There's no set screw or nothin'. Do I turn them counterclockwise and screw them off? Do they pull off? Do I haveta pry them off? Do I blow the muthers off with dy-no-mite?

Spoon tips often work - so will the tip of a paint can lid remover. It doesn't hurt to put masking tape on the PG to keep from scratching it when you try this. Also a good idea to pry from two sides, 180 degrees apart.

Spoons! What an excellent idea! Why have I never thought of that?
For that matter, why have I never thought of using dy-no-mite?

These little paint can lid removers are handy - they pry well, and the bent tip will reach into the heel end of many Fender J and P basses to adjust the truss rod nut.

"Thanks people", said the moron as he turned, walked briskly away and went right over the edge of the 200' cliff he forgot was there.

A common tablespoon worked just fine.

Thanks again.

if you're in a situation where you don't want to possibly damage the surface (like with the edge of a spoon that slips), I read (and then used) wrapping a light weight t shirt around the knob, then pulling.

Having miraculously survived the 200' fall, the moron picked himself up, brushed the dust off of his clothes, did an about face and, while looking over one shoulder to see if any bad guys were following him, walked directly into the face of the cliff.

No fair, you stole the title of my autobiography.

Anyway, are most pull-off-style knobs interchangeable?
