Moving a Strap Button

Sign in to disble this ad
Has anybody moved a strap button or post from the back of their bass out onto the wing tip like most are positioned, I wanted to move mine on my Epiphone T-Bird Pro IV but wanted to get some feed back first on it..
Thanks

the further towards the headstock you can get that button, the better your T-bird will balance.

except on tbirds. moving it to wing will add to neck dive...

Thunderbirds are notorious for neck dive. Moving the strap button to the "wing" will make the neck dive worse.

Yea, But the strap is very uncomfortable right now the way it sits.. I dont know maybe I will get used to it, Im going to wait a while, I haven't had the bass long at all so I will give it some time..

right, because that actually puts it further away from the headstock, my entire point.

is this a bolt-on?

you could move the button from the back to the flat part under the neck where it goes into the body. basically, the very "top" of the body if you stood the bass vertically.

that'll both keep it from digging into your ribs and get it a little more to your left as you wear the bass, improving the balance a little.

Its not a bolt on neck if thats what your asking, well at this point Im a little confused.. I may leave it alone for now until I can figure out what to do or what will work best with out putting unnecessary holes in the bass body..

i just looked that model up, very nice!

you could put the button on that curved zone between the top edge of the body and the back of the neck, kind of like how it's done on an acoustic guitar heel; it would hit your hand when you went for the very high notes, but would hang better otherwise.

I will take a look at that positioning for the button and see if that will work and to make sure I have the right spot, I appreciate it, Thanks
