Multi-Piece Bridge vs One-Piece

I wonder if there's much info and input about the benefit of one over the other for sustain and tone?

I know mass means something - although that's somewhat nebulous to me at the moment, but wouldn't individual-string bridges also kill a lot of that quality too?

Still learning this stuff.
