My Fender Mustang needs a makeover

When I received my Fender Mustang a while back, It was a dream come true...since then I've gotten a fender jaguar and have been using that for some time.

I wanna bring my fiesta red Fender Mustang back into the circuit. I'd like to customize it a bit by adding the racing stripe seen on the vintage mustangs. I was also wondering, is it possible to install chrome pickup covers? I'm not talking about the white or black plastic ones...I want the big metal ones. I know of a good guitar shop but I'd like more ideas. Any other ideas on how to bring this childhood dream come true back with a vengeance?? Thanks dudes.

Calipers and assorted measuring tools are your friends. Measure all areas that are applicable to what you would want to alter and compare those to existing alterations in an example of what things you'd want. If it's covers, measure the bridge, pups, whatever and compare those to existing examples (such as a p-Bass) - see if there is room and what it would look like. The scale is smaller, however there might be some things made specifically for a Mustang or quality means of making an existing item smaller. The only way to find out for sure is to have exact dimensions available. You would want to measure not only the bridge, etc - but the open areas as it may 'crowd" your hand.

It basically gets back to what you want to accomplish & how far you are willing to go with quality work. There are some fantastic examples in 'BASSES" of of cleaned up instruments. IMO, if you're going to do it, do it well.
