My lucky day?

Sign in to disble this ad
So lately I've been thinking of upgrading my MIM Jazz Fretless. Bridge, nut, pickguard, etc. I was going to go with the Gotoh 201 for the price, when today I found this:

For $20!

Needless to say, I bought it immediately. My question is this: It needs a bit of cleaning done to it so what is the best way to clean rust off of the bridge? Any help at all would be appreciated. Thanks a lot!

Soak it in a bowl of Coca Cola, then use a tooth brush.

I thought the same thing at first, but the bass isn't nearly distressed enough to match it. I thought it might look a little odd.

...are you sure that's rust? From the pic it sort of looks like the chrome may be wearing off, exposing the brass the bridge is actually made of.

Maybe take it to a Plateing company and have it striped. They put it in a tank and it will come out brass like new. got to be a few of them in orlando . i know there are some over by Tampa and daytona. i wouldnt think it would cost much either.

see if you can trade it for a new one. if I where to build a relic with one or if I wanted one for an old bass yours would be ideal and I would be willing to trade or pay you the cost of a new one. try the classifieds you might get lucky twice.

Well, I spent quite a bit of time cleaning this up today. Turned out really nice and I went ahead and installed it.

Thanks for all the help!
