My musicman is too quiet

So my trusty musicman stingray has suddenly lost a lot of volume. The sound it kicks out is still great, just really quiet. I've switched the battery for a brand new one (twice) and this didn't help, so doesn't seem to be a low battery issue. Any ideas on what could cause it to lose a lot of volume like this?

Yeah I had everything cranked -- the background hiss from the amp was only a bit quieter than the sound the bass was making.

I've tried it in 3 different amps, same result. I may possibly have used the same lead every time, but I wouldn't have thought a bad lead would just make it quiet ... but maybe I'll go and try another lead to see if it's that.

Seems to be the same as it was when the bass was still at normal volume. It was playing at normal volume, I left it for a few days without playing and the next time it was quiet -- so possibly the pickup could have slipped down over that time, I'll have a look and see if it's loose or anything like that.

Have you checked all your cables?

I had a similar problem - turns out my battery leads were disconnected. Do the eq knobs still work?

So, I had a closer look and it turns out that one of the wires connecting the battery up to the rest of it had come loose (I think we can forgive it for finally coming loose after nearly 30 years!). So a friend of mine did a wee solder job on it and now it's back up and running good as it always was!

Cool! Good to hear it's fixed. Those wires, they're pesky... I bought mine new in 2000 and I've already had two wires break for some reason... and I take REALLY good care of it. Ah well.
