so i was fiddling with my truss rod trying to make everything just right and i suddenly notice my d buzzes only on open, looking at the nut and suddenly its like the nut is a lot lower ad the d string area than everywhere else, didnt use to be like that. has this ever happened to anyone else?

try putting superglue on the nut where the D string sits until it's back to normal size, and make sure it's smooth. I've never done this, I've just heard that works.

I have had a problem where I changed strings and some of the nut slots were too low ...

I took it back to the shop where I bought it and their resident tech explained to me how he kept ground-up "nut dust" for this purpose - so he mixed it with super glue and then built up the nut slot to the right height - all in about 20 minutes and I wasn't charged a penny!

This is what I do:

Take a plastic leaflet (old credit card or similar). Cut a tiny square (2x2 mm shuold be enough for the D string) and superglue it to the nut slot. Add a drop of super glue on top of the plastic you have already glued in the slot. Get a nut file and file down the groove after the superglue has dried. Done.

I don't have pics of how to do this but I hope you believe me.

Ding!!! We have a winner. If adjusting the truss rod made the nut slots too low, a dab of super glue ain't gonna fix it.

You have just finished adjusting the truss rod. A misadjusted truss rod acts very much like too deep nut slots.
