Is my Warwick stained?

So I noticed that my Warwick got this weird black looking stain on the bottom of it. I noticed it when I took it out of the gig bag one day. I can't think of anything that caused this. I tried rubbing the surface with a 100% cotton t-shirt but this stuff wont move at all and feels as smooth as any other surface of the bass.

How should I go about trying to clean this? Should I use the Warwick wax on this or is this stained for good?

The first picture shows the stain the best while the other two show the general area and how it transitions.

Your pics are out of focus and apparently taken in the dark. Please take the bass into good light and find a way to get the photos in focus. I think you will get more help.

A color has to come from somewhere. Check your case and the belt you wore when playing the bass last...and any clothing you wore which might have rubbed on it. Might check the strap too.

I'll try to take outdoor pics tomorrow, lighting in my house is terrible. I went and checked everything and nothing is faded in color, so I have no idea what caused this When I think about the location it seems most likely it was the strap. Guess it's going in the trash.

If you can show some clearer pictures, I would be happy to give you some ideas on how to remove the stain. I'm guessing your bass is oil finish? Thanks!

Oh yeah, I wouldn't be surprised if the strap did it. If you do figure it out, let us know what strap you were using please!

I'll try tomorrow, it's raining here and like I said the lighting inside my house sucks. But yes it is an oil finish. It's an old Warwick Corvette Proline. Basically a flamed mapled body Corvette.

Well I've been using my simple Ernie Ball simple nylon strap but I'm still not 100% sure enough that I would blame it without a doubt. Just seems like the most likely subject.

If the stains are around the bottom strap button, it could be transfer from the leather ends on a nylon strap...but it would have to be one crappy dye job.

Haven't had times to get great pictures like I have wanted. Here are some better pictures though. The area that is stained is the area normally where a strap will rest on a bass while you wear it.

Take the 100% Cotton T-Shirt you used to try to clean the bass and try cleaning the camera lens. Then take another picture so we can see what it looks like. Help us to help you.
