natural chorus on my jag?

Sign in to disble this ad
Not sure if this is the right section for this, so feel free to move it to the right place.

On my Fender Jaguar Bass my A string seems to have some chorus

It's not the string itself (I've replaced it). I'm a noob at all the tech stuff, so I'm reaching out for help from the forum. My question is what it could be? The nut maybe? Or the bridge?

Thanks alot

You can occasionally get a chorus like effect when the pick ups are too close to the strings, try lowering the pick ups.

Thanks, but it's not the PU's. I'm noticing it also when playing the bass acoustic.

Try lowering the pickups anyway. Whats happening is the magnetic field is causing oscillation in the string. I just went through this with one of my Jazz basses. You'll hear it whether the bass is plugged in or not.

Oreomeister,
no it's not the string. The "chorusy sound" was also on another set of strings I tried.
I'll try lowering the PU when I get the chance.

You would have to experience it to know what the OP means. The whole body oscillates like its out of tune, and it will drive a tuner nuts. like you're playing two bad notes together, but its only one note.

Pickups magnetically interfering with the motion of the strings? Lower the pickups...

Not enough down pressure behind the nut? Re string the A string so the turns on the post push the string lower toward the headstock.

Just a couple of thoughts...
