Question neck or dead spots?

Sign in to disble this ad
My bass resonate more from fret 7 to 20 than 1 to 6.
From fret 2 to fret 5 in the A and E string is the DEATH ZONE. Not actually a "no sound/sustain", but the notes dont have the roundness of the 7 to 20.
Its kinda more than annoying because 80% of bass playing is in 2 to 5!!!

If it is choking out on that many frets. I would expect the action to be a TINY bit too low. With it happening on the low ned, i would suggest just a touch more relief in the neck. Loosen the truss rod about an 1/8 turn or so.

I agree, that's the first thing I'd suspect.
