neck ferrule(s) question

Sign in to disble this ad
Looking to use 5/8'' neck ferrules on my warmoth jazz bass build. Has anyone done this, would the spacing be to tight. I ordered some from stew mac and looking back in hindsight maybe I should have researched first. Have not found much on the web in regarding this option of neck attachment. I really don't what to have a plate. Help please......

Well guess I will answer my own question...lol. Yes ferrules like the ones that stew mac sells will fit on a fender style bass. I read that 5/8 forstner bit was too wide for there style ferrules but after much measuring came too the conclusion that it would work; sure enough it did. I read that 15mm was a better choice but have fun getting metric at any hardware store in a forstner bit. I used 6 screws and ferrules to attach the neck; very tight neck joint now. Almost done with build wenge/ebony neck and walnut body. Going to put bart's in it (soap bar) with prewired bart preamp. The schaller roller bridge is outstanding. This is my second warmoth build and I will never buy a off the shelf bass again. Paid extra for pickup placement but nothing like getting all the features you want in a bass for about 1,500 bucks. Neck to body fit is better then my two American fenders. Only my warwick which I sold do to neck dive have I loved this much.
