Neck Kit and my 51 RI...Super cool...

Hey, just wanted to see if anyone else has a neck kit in their bass. I have one and love it. I do some traveling, and like to take my 51 RI, so I just pop off the neck, pack her up and off I go. No worries about messing up the neck pocket with the wood screws. I have two 51 RI necks, one with the kit and one without the kit, and I hear a better tone with the kitl, sustain type of deal, especially when she isn't plugged in, just sitting on the bed and picking. So, who else here has a neck kit in their bass? P/S I got an extra 51 neck for sale...dy.

Inserts and machine screws? Danny Gatton did that since he liked to remove the neck sometimes when traveling.

Rod at Regenerate Guitar Works is putting inserts/screws in the neck of the 5-string '51 TeleP he's currently building for me.

It seems like that would be bad for the stability of the neck. Wouldn't it take a while for the neck to settle down again after you reinstalled the neck and strung it up?

Not if it's a quality neck.

I have threaded inserts and machine bolts on my 78 P. No problems at all. And that neck will never move anywhere.
