neck maintenance

I'm a new bass player what are some ways to keep it in good condition?

* Don't abuse it. {Leave it in the car on a hot day, expose it to a large amount of UV, expose it to fast alterations of temperature or drop it , etc.}
* Don't "fix" something that works. If something functions - leave it alone!
* DO Practice a lot. - Seriously; if you practice a lot you will feel comfortable handling it and not bumping it or dropping it.
Modern equipment is very robust; you need not do anything unique.


Oh...Don't spill stuff on it or vomit on it.

Mostly the vomiting part. Although there is some similarity in shape with the MM Bongo and a toilet, so I can see how the mistake is easy enough to make.

Don't try to defret it cos you decide u want a fretless . Totally killed a perfectly good neck trying that.
