Neck removal question

Sign in to disble this ad
I have an Epiphone Thunderbird and plan on temporarily removing the neck so that I can replace the neck plate. Will doing this affect the set-up on my bass? Action, intonation, truss rod, etc.

It shouldn't so long as you put it back together again the same way with the same guage and tension strings. Why do you want to replace the neck plate?

It shouldn't, so long as the neck is only off for a short time. If it'll be off for a while, you'll want to loosen the truss rod.

As I cuddled the porcupine he said I had none to blame, but me.

No, it won't be a problem. When you reinstall the neck, be careful when you tighten the screws so you don't strip the holes in the body.

I'm going to move the strap pin and don't want two holes in the plate.
