Neck Replacement?

Sign in to disble this ad
Good Morning All Tber's...

I did a bit of searching here and couldn't find the answer so here it goes:

I have a Fender Jazz with a maple/rosewood neck I purchased last year. It's a "FSR" model and I really like it EXCEPT for the neck. I've always wanted a beautiful birdseye maple fingerboard on a Jazz bass.

Are the aftermarket necks from a place like Warmoth TRULY "drop in" replacement? I read that the Fender "4 bolt" configuration was devised for easy replacement, but not being a tech type I've horrified myself about the ease of such a change. If you have any experience with doing such a mod, I'd love to hear from you. Thanks very much!

The Warmoth necks are designed to be a drop in replacement, and so are the Mightymite necks. But I would definitly do some measuring before ordering just to make sure. The warmoth necks would be the best choice for quality wood, fit and finish. Swapping a neck isn't brain surgery by any means. The time consuming part is getting the set up right after the install.

Yeah, it isn't brain surgery I purchased an ATK300 online from ebay, a vintage 1995 ivory with black pickguard 4 yrs ago but the guy i bought it from ditched the original neck.. He claimed it was "too clubby". So I purchased the body with electronics and hardware intact but needed a neck.. Went back to ebay, purchased a cheap Samick P-bass with a Greg Bennett neck... I keep the neck and installed it on my ATK300 and ditched the rest. Setup was simple.. You can do easily yourself.
