Neck setup on a Yamaha TRB5

I can't find any factory figures but using the Roger Sadowsky article in the FAQ the string heights (at 12th fret) on a four string should be between 1/6 and 3/32 (1.59-2.3mm) on the G and between 3/32 and 1/8 (2.32 - 3.18mm). Elsewhere I read the neck relief on a Jazzshould be .012" (0.3mm)

I measured my TRB 5 string and I had a neck relief of (0.031) (0.8mm.) I took that down to .0275 (0.7mm) and the higher strings were starting to buzz. That not playing hard either.

My numbers so far are:-
Relief 0.0275" (0.7mm),
G string 7/64 (2.8mm)
B string 9/64 (3.4mm)

I'm embarrased at having such a high action. Where do I go from here?

If you have high action, and are still getting string rattle, most likely you are in need of a fret level. This is extremely common even on expensive instruments.

Take it to a tech and have them look it over.
