Neckplate Dilemma :(

Sign in to disble this ad
So I ordered a used bass and the neckplate was lost during shipping. It's gonna be upwards of 40 dollars to buy a new one. Would it be a good idea to just put washers under the screws in place of a neckplate?

Why the hell would a neck plate cost $40.00????

$5.00 is about normal, and that includes shipping.

It's for an MM jazz bass. The neckplates apparently are rare or something because the cheapest I found was $40 .

Which is exactly why I don't wanna buy it.

Sorry to ask another question...but how did the neck-plate get lost in shipping? Was it a parts bass?

uhhh...who was selling a neck plate for $40??

I routinely post dozens of Fender neckplates on ebay for $1 each and $3 shipping (I collect them when I part Fenders out).

Yes, that's it. I found one that was apparently for bass, ordered it, and discovered why it was cheap: it was for guitar.

If I had one I'd give it to you. I don't get too many of the 70's RI style.

Well thank you.

My question still stands. Would washers and probably some neck work be a suitable replacement for a neckplate? Mind you all a luthier would be doing the work, not me.
