basically, my 13th fret has a long dent on the top, affecting the e and a string, lots of buzz! I was wondering if anyone has any advice about filling the fret down, do i file the whole fret ? i am good with tools etc, but advice would be useful! Thanks.

For me a dent is a depression so a dented fret would be too low, so wouldn't cause fret buzz. Is the buzzing on the 14th when you fret the 13th?

I'd suggest you take it to someone who does. A low fret can *sometimes* be lifted a little, and superglued into place, relevedl/recrowned, but this is no gig to break in on.
