Need advice on setting up a MIM jazz V

Sign in to disble this ad
I'm in possession of a MIM jazz V for a while before i move it on, the action at the moment is terrible and i'd like to improve it. I'm quite competent with setups but was wondering if anyone has tip or tricks on tweaking this particular bass?

It should be the same as any other bass.

Do you find that the string saddles won't go low enough to accommodate your taste in action? I'm having mine set up right now, and my tech tells me he had to grind off the bottom of the saddles so they'll sit lower...

That's interesting...I would have thought it would be easier to just shim the neck to raise it up a bit then readjust the saddles from there.

We originally were going to do that, but he liked the coupling at the neck so well, and only really needed the G and B saddles to be lower, that he went with that. But that would have worked too.
