Need help to remove Music Man bridge.

Sign in to disble this ad
I want to have my 1996 Music Man Sterling body refinished and have removed all part except the bridge. I've been trying to remove the bridge, but seem to have run into a problem. I've taken out the 3 wood screws at the base and the 4 mute screws at the top and it refuses to budge. I'm pretty sure that the 2 posts that secure the saddles are the problem but I can't figure out how to remove them. I've tried to use different screwdrivers and hex wrenches in the holes but can't seem to find anything that will make them loosen. Does anyone out there have any experience with these things? All assistance gratefully accepted.

You are right - the posts at the ends of the saddles have to come out. Find a hex wrench (Allen key) that fits and undo them. It may take quite a bit of force.

Bingo!

That was the answer. I thought that EB had some unusual fastener at the bottom of the holes, but it was the hole itself, round at the opening, but hex further down. They are a tricky lot over there in San Luis Obispo. Found the proper wrench and it took very little force to loosen. Thanks for the insight. I owe you one.
