| As I've posted I don't know how many times here, my Thumb B.O. 5 developed a twist on the bass side of the neck.
I bought it used at GC (and the twist was not there when I got it; it happened about a year and a half after I got it). I contacted Warwick to see if I could buy a replacement neck, preferably made from maple, because I feared the neck would only twist again if I got it "fixed." I realize this can happen to any neck, but I'd feel better with a finished maple neck than an unfinished ovangkol neck.
To make this story short, Warwick told me they would not sell me a replacement neck. They sent my e-mail on to the tech at Dana B. Goods, and he told me they'd fix it at my expense (I didn't have it done).
If you want a new neck, your best bet is to see if you can find a luthier to build one for you, excepting, of course, the luthiers at Warwick, who will not. Stambaugh's Web site says he builds necks/bodies for replacement purposes, but I don't know if that's still true, or what the wait time will be. |
