Bought a used T-40 neck to put on my Fury body.
BTW - THANKS to all here that suggested Tru-Oil for refinishing the neck. After sanding off all the nicks and scratches, 8 coats of Tru-Oil and the wax, it looks and feels BETTER than new!
Anyway, I planned to use all the hardware from the defective Fury neck and suddenly realized the nut is not the same! D'OH!
It seems that the nut is 1-11/16". I can find 1-5/8" (P) and 1-9/16" (J). Any ideas about where to get one? Peavey parts is out. The email posted last year for Chip Todd is no longer working.
Thanks!

BTW - After lengthy research, I DID find one of the right width at Guitar Parts Resource and ordered it. Whether or not it is the right thickness and will work is another story and remains to be seen.

The scale, before compensation, is twice the distance from the front edge of the nut, to the center of the 12th fret.

A quick measurement shows that 34" is about in the center of the bridge. It seems to be a little further back than it should be, but should be OK. We'll see when I intonate it. There is plenty of room to move the bridge back 1/4 - 1/2" if necessary.

heres some measurements to help clarify (maybe)
79 t-40 - neck pocket, heel to butt - 3.5", neck from nut to butt - 23.75"
82 fury (super ferrite fury) - 3 and 16/32", 24.25"
94 fury (precision style fury) - 3.5", 24.25"
(all measurements done with a tape, as accurately as possible)
so in actuality, the T-40 neck is shorter by ~1/2" in the critical dimensions, not longer (which corresponds with what you noticed)...but yeah, not a huge deal to shift the bridge back a bit on either model fury (worst case)...keep us posted, sounds like a cool project |

I do think I need to shift the bridge back a little so that the string angle over the saddles is not too extreme.
Added: I compared the necks, and the Fury neck IS about 1/2" longer, equating to +1/4" at the saddles. When I get the nut I will see if I can work it as-is, before moving the bridge. This is only so that the 2 holes from the front of the bridge don't show. If I MUST move it - then so be it.

A TB'er needed a neck for his T-40 body, and made me an offer I couldn't refuse! That's OK - I will find another neck for this Fury body, and I have learned how to do the refinishing.
Thanks again all for your valuable input.
