Need a palmrest... Replacing my bridge?

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a Fender MIJ P-bass with a regular old vintage bridge, and a lot of the time while playing (I use a pick) I rest the fleshy part of my hand on the bridge. Unfortunately with the little screws it's pretty uncomfortable, so I'm looking for a bridge replacement. The Badass I looks more comfortable than the Badass II (both are available at my closest L&MQ) but I heard you need to shim the neck in order to mount it properly. Is it worth it, or do you think the Badass II is smooth enough?

Thanks a lot.

Ashtray is cool but prevents you from palm muting.
BadAss I or II are very uncomfortable for the right hand, much worse than a Fender.
I recommend a Gotoh roller bridge, very comfy.

I'd recommend taking one of the height setscrews & a saddle piece into a machinists hardware distributer & buy shorter setscrews.

this.

you might even be able to find them at a decent hardware store, or you can just cut down the screws you have so they don't poke out.

Hate the look of ashtrays to be honest, and they keep my hand too far from the strings when I play.

I couldn't see that the badass had raised saddles, so yeah that might be more uncomfortable... But I just rented a 70s jazz that has the screws cranked up all the way and it's very comfortable, so maybe I'll just get the p-bass set up.

Thanks a lot guys!
