In Need of a Super tight String Spaced Bridge

Sign in to disble this ad
I have a vintage Framus bass (Strato Star) from 66 that is missing the bridge. It used to be set up in a tune-o-matic type bridge set up. I'm missing the bridge part but I still have where the string's ball ends are held in. I need some help figuring out what bridge to replace it with.

My options seem to be VERY limited. The string spacing is approximately 14mm at the bridge between each string which is right in between a normal guitar spacing and an already tight bass string spacing. I could either go the individual bridge route, or perhaps a Hofner bridge where you can adjust string spacing by moving the saddles (right?). But the Hofner bridge might be too high even at its lowest setting and after filing because the Framus' neck is set only 10.5mm above the body.

Does anyone have any other ideas or input? Thanks!

I have an ETS headless bridge and tuner assembly which has 15mm spacing and can be adjusted.

Hi Skelf, thanks for the reply. The ETS bridge seems cool. All I can find online about it is that is has 60mm E to G spacing which means it has 20mm string spacing. Does it really adjust down to 15mm string spacing? Or am I not looking at the right specs?

It is a custom made one so not on the website. I got it for a customer but the project fell through.

Skelf, are you offering it for sale? If so, how much?

I am indeed. I will sell it at my cost since I just want to move it on. I will get back to you as soon as I find the invoice for it.

If corgan4321 doesn't want this, I would be interested. What color is the hardware and what would the spacing be on the headpiece?
