Never admitted this in public before, but its time to come out of the closet...

I... I like gold hardware.

I feel sooo much better getting that out.

A recent experience with a Warwick that had highly polished frets made me start thinking about gold hardware with matching frets.. If you have some, post pics. If you don't, comment, or don't, I don't care. If you think this is silly, chime in. If you want to come out too... I'm here for you.

I only like gold hardware on really expensive looking basses. Fodera, Brubaker, Warwick, Ken Smith, Roscoe, the higher end Yamahas, Tune basses and so on. Put it on something that looks like it cost less than a grand and it just looks wrong .

Gold is a fo' ballas, yo.

Hmmm, expensive basses with fake gold colored hardware that wears off... no thanks. Chrome and nickel just last and last. Now real gold plate would be a different story.

Not into bass bling. YMMV.

I've seen it on a few basses I liked, usually don't like it though.

I've always been dissappointed that your only options are usually nickel, gold, black. I wish you could customize parts like on bicycles with anondized aluminum in all sorts of cool colors but I don't think aluminum is a very popular options for bridges and such.

I have gold hardware on my Spector NS-2. I purchased new in 1995. None of the finish is rubbing off after 16 years.

Generally i'm more about color, but when it comes to bass hardware... I'm usually very fond of black. Gold is definitely my least favorite.

Like others have said, the right bass with gold hardware is a beautiful thing. It doesn't have gold frets, but the gold truss rod wheel and pickup poles are a nice touch. I was actually going to do a custom order to get it in pearl white, but the Ernie Ball rep told me that gold wasn't an option even on a custom order and this was one of a limited run for Guitar Center. I couldn't leave the store without her!

No more gold for me it's all chrome all the time!

Gold can be very tasteful if it is not overdone. I have gold trim on my white car, but only the Acura logo - I took all the rest of the useless badges off. Gold with Black for example, is a little too much IMO.

Gold is cool sometimes on some basses but I've grown fond of black and gold for some bling with high contrast. This one has that and color matched metal knobs:

Color matched hardware... in this case burst finish on all metal pieces and metal cover on the Barts:
