new bass saddles for gibson grabber

Sign in to disble this ad
I've just signed hoping to get some help but I'm loving this forum already, especially all the pics of peoples set ups.
Anyway I'm really hoping someone can help me out. I own a 76 grabber, the saddles are obviously very old and are starting to wear down now which is causing me to break a lot of strings. I've filed them down so there are no burs but it doesn't take long before they cut through again. It's driving me insane. Can anyone suggest some good replacement saddles? I dont mind if i have to order them as I'm from Australia and every store I go to can never seem to get any in so I'm over dealing with them and would prefer to go straight to the source. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Grabbers had this different style, non 3 point.

My suggestion is just to buy a new bridge, I think you'd find it much easier and possibly cheaper. You can always put your bridge back on if you're looking for vintage re-sale value.

thanks for the reply. I don't mind if I have to get the whole thing but are there any bridges around that I'm not going have to start drilling holes?

There are no direct replacements for this bridge. You might be able to take the saddles from a fender bridge, but I don't have any firsthand knowledge. Otherwise I'd go with a badass. You're going to loose the string through capabilities with any replacement bridge.

thanks, i'll look into the fender bridge saddles. hopefully theyre similar and this can work. im really hating that the only option is a new bridge cause I don't want to have to start drilling holes..
