New bass truss rod socket off center in hole

Sign in to disble this ad
Hello,

I just bought a G&L USA JB as gift to myself. I played the bass several times at the store but only now noticed the socket (bullet?) for the truss rod is badly off center in the drilled hole in the neck. Never seen this before, is this going to be a problem?

The rod does turn, I added a touch more relief. However the allen wrench does not seat very well and the socket is already more beatup than I'd expect.

Thoughts?

Thank you.

PS Sorry if this is a dual post, having brower issues.

No problem that I can see. Just be careful to seat the wrench well when you adjust it.

I had (have) a similar problem with my used Victor Bailey Fender AEB. It was disappointing to see that kind of flaw in an acoustic bass that originally sold for American Standard kinds of money, but I can adjust the truss rod okay. It just takes a little jiggling to get the wrench in and out of the fitting.

I can't see any problem, either.
