Question New neck or not??

P bass special. Squier. 2010 model they quit making!!

Had this thing for about 5 months. After adjusting things to get the string action lower, I noticed an oddity on the neck.

When looking down the neck from nut to heel: on the E string side I managed to get the neck straight.

From the G string side: It is straight (level) in the heel area, about frets 16-20. But coming up from there to the nut there is a slight bow which can be seen. It is (thank god) bowed in the right direction. [there was a small piece of sand paper already in the pocket from the factory].

1 week later: I shimmed the neck pocket to help get the strings lower. Keep in mind this was also partially due to replacing the bent-metal Fender calls a bridge with a little more robust animal called CV'60 J bass bridge in chrome. It is heavier & styled like the Gotoh 201. Improved intonation.

The neck syndrome was there before replacing the bridge which did gain me some sustain.

So my question is:
1. Do i replace my neck with a VMJ '70 or '77, CV '60 J bass or Warmoth, Allparts etc, etc.
2. Or tell me about Luthiery magic you guys have. I work in telecommunication and know that 'once you let the magic smoke out, it can't be put back in'.

Tell me your views, as I still feel as the neck maybe twisted.

My view is that it's a Squire and few owners of Squires put the money needed into these instruments since it almost always exceeds the cost of the instrument. Be prepared to hear a repair quote at or above $300.
