New tuners are hard to turn....

Sign in to disble this ad
Just got a warmoth parts P bass with what I believe are Gotoh tuers if I remember correctly. However, even though brand new, they seem a bit hard to turn compared to other basses I have had. Is this something that can be an easy fix, or maybe something that just requires the part to be broken in?....

Thanks

Hi.

Open or closed?

On the open ones, take the wheel screw, the wheel and the post off and lubricate the surfaces with a dry (teflon) lubricant. Pay attention to the orientation of the plate spring that takes the radial slack off from the worm shaft.

On closed ones, You can adjust the friction to some extent by turning the screw that holds the butterfly in the worm shaft.

Regards
Sam
