Newb question - loose strings?

Hi all,

I have an Ibanez SR500BM and I love it. However, I really think that tighter strings on the bass will really suit my playing style, as it almost feels like the strings move too much when I pluck them. Is there any way to tighten them, or should I buy a thicker set of strings?

Sam I'd look into changing the strings, but not neccesarily to a thicker gauge. You can get higher tension without going thicker. I don't know what Ibanez uses but I'd try something like GHS Boomers. Bass strings are a core wire with wrapped wire for the gauge. Hex Cores tend to have higher tension than round cores.
